Frequently Asked Questions

What is a QR code?
A QR code (Quick Response code) is a two-dimensional barcode first developed in 1994 by the Japanese company Denso Wave. Composed of black and white squares arranged on a grid, QR codes can be scanned with a smartphone camera or a dedicated scanner. Upon scanning, they provide quick access to information or actions, such as opening a website, downloading an app, or saving contact details. QR codes are widely used across various industries, including marketing, transportation, and healthcare, due to their versatility, ease of use, and ability to store more data than traditional barcodes.

Can I use the QR codes generated by NewQR for commercial purposes?
Absolutely! You are free to use the QR codes generated by NewQR for any commercial purposes, including on products, advertisements, business cards, and more. Our service is provided for free, with no restrictions on the use of your QR codes. However, it is your responsibility to ensure compliance with relevant laws and regulations regarding QR code use in your region.

Do the created QR codes expire?
No, the QR codes generated on NewQR are static, meaning they do not expire. Once created, your QR code will continue to work as long as the linked content remains accessible.

Is there a limit to how many times a QR code can be scanned?
There is no limit to the number of scans a QR code can receive. It will continue to function as long as the content it links to remains available.

Does NewQR save my data?
Your privacy is important to us. NewQR does not save or reuse your data. We only temporarily cache your QR code image for 24 hours on our server to enhance performance. After this time, your QR code image will be automatically deleted from our server.

Why is my vCard QR code not showing the correct fields?
Some QR code scanners may not fully adhere to the official vCard standard, which can cause contact information to appear incorrectly. We recommend trying another scanner app for better results, or generating your vCard QR code with a different tool.

What can I do if my QR code is not working?
If your QR code isn't working, there are several possible causes. Check the data for any typos or errors. For QR codes containing a lot of information (e.g., vCard), reducing the data size may help improve readability. Removing logos or ensuring sufficient contrast between the background and foreground of the QR code can also make a difference. For more tips, refer to our troubleshooting guide.

Does NewQR work in all browsers?
NewQR works best with modern browsers that support HTML5, including Chrome, Firefox, Safari, Edge, and Internet Explorer 11. Older or unsupported browsers may experience issues when using our QR code generator.
